The top five finalists will be sent to Evelyn McGee-Colbert, actress and wife of The Colbert Report host Stephen Colbert. Evelyn will judge and choose the winner of the Wildcard category. Together Evelyn and Stephen will appear via video at the awards ceremony when the winner is announced.
The winner of the Wildcard category will receive $2500 and is eligible for the $5,000 Grand Prize. A runner up will receive $1000 to cultivate their idea and both will receive a scholarship to FastTracSC entrepreneurial training programs. Last year's winner of this category was Wilson Davis, who invented the Aquatic Muscle, a body suit designed to teach children how to swim at his/her own pace.

All winners of the contest will be announced at an awards ceremony on June 4 at the ThinkTEC Innovation Summit in Charleston
